FAEDS Teacher Scholarship

One or more $3,000 scholarships will be awarded to a selected Florida teacher who:

  • is a U.S. citizen and resident of Florida
  • has been accepted into a post-baccalaureate degree-seeking program at an accredited Florida college or university
  • is either:
    • seeking a degree related to instructional computing or computer science

      -OR-

    • taking courses to receive Florida Certification in computer instruction.

The deadline for applications is February 15thThe scholarship will be effective beginning with the Summer Term. Notification will be made by May 1st.

APPLICANTS MUST:

    1. Hold a valid Florida teaching certificate or appointment.
    2. Be a U.S. citizen and resident of Florida
    3. Attend an accredited Florida college or university
    4. Be enrolled in or accepted to a post-baccalaureate degree seeking program related to computer sciences or instructional computing, OR be working toward Florida Certification in computer instruction.
    5. Have at least half of their course of study still remaining to be completed.
    6. Commit to teaching one full year in Florida schools after program completion.
HOW TO APPLY? Complete the application form PDF and submit it to the address at the bottom of the application, along with: 
    1. A copy of your Florida certificate or appointment paper.
    2. Transcript of completed courses.
    3. Two to four page typed essay indicating an interest in furthering your education in the computing field. Discuss how you plan to utilize theses skills in your current curriculum. Also, briefly describe your teaching philosophy and views on educational technology.
    4. Three letters of recommendation from school administrators, fellow teachers, or FAEDS members.

Completed applications and supporting documents must be submitted to the chairperson of the scholarship committee, POSTMARKED no later than February 15th.
