- 14 counties planning on utilizing data processing met in Tallahassee
on June 27 and 28.
- They recognized the need for a data processing association
and submitted an application for a state charter.
- William J. English elected first president of new organization.
- Thomas D. Bailey credited with intial idea.
1964
- FAEDS came into official existence. Charter signed by Myron
Ashmore, Thomas Bailey, William English, Henry Fox, Robert Gates,
William McFatter, John Phillips, Robert Sims, Thomas Smith, and
Gerald Wilson.
- Bill English continues as president.
1965
- Bill English reelected for 1 additional year.
1966
- Dr. Henry Fox elected as second FAEDS president.
- Annual meeting in Tampa.
1967
- Everett Yarbrough elected president.
- Annual meeting in Boca Raton.
- Worked in conjunction with statewide Òelectronic student data
recordÓ initiative. Program aimed to enact eletronic data collection
and implementation of student records.
1968
- Dr. William Wharton elected president.
1969
- Year of growth and increased membership.
- Theodore Koschler elected president.
- Joint FAEDS-AEDS workshop held April 28 through May 1 in Miami
Beach. Theme was Real - Time Processing.
- Everett Yarbrough served as president of the national organization,
AEDS.
- First(?) Robert W. Sims Memorial Award presented to Dr. Henry
Fox.
- Committee system fully adopted to perform various organizational
functions.
- Robert W. Sims Scholarship first offered. Available to second
year students in terminal Data Processing programs
- Amount of scholarship was $500. It was to be paid back without
interest upon completion of program.
- First(?) Fall Conference held in Clearwater on October 13 and
14.
